Review: Names.co.uk Secure UK Hosting
|About Names.co.uk
Names.co.uk (also known as Namesco) are a UK based website Hosting company which are based in Worcester, a city in central England’s West Midlands region. Although they may appear small at first, they have datacentres across the UK and are actually part of a group of companies called ‘Dada‘. This is an international group who provide professional online services for businesses and individuals. The Dada Group operates in the UK, Ireland, USA, Italy, Spain, France, Portugal and the Netherlands – so they are much larger than they first appear. Although this is the case, in our tests, we found their support excellent and very personable. They specialise in domain names and UK hosting (including cloud hosting, Cpanel hosting, WordPress hostings, reseller and dedicated servers). They currently host over 650,000 websites and both hosting and support is exclusively UK-based – so you’re in good hands.
Overview
Namesco have been in the web hosting business for nearly two decades and since their formation, they’ve grown from strength-to-strength. They offer a wealth of different services and online hosting solutions for individuals, businesses, developers and resellers. This means they offer services, regardless of where you are in your web hosting journey – from a total beginner or someone with many years of experience. One element which stood out for us was the user-friendly nature of their website and the whole setup experience as it was really straight forward. When evaluting a hosting company, we also contact them by phone and email or support ticket. This could be for pre-sales questions or setup support. In our tests – Namesco performed flawlessly. Our support ticket was answered in less than an hour and the advise given over the telephone was factually correct and helpful. Rather usefully, they are open 7-days a week for support which is ideal for small businesses as they are likely to be working on their website over the evening and weekend.
Reviews
Namesco consistently receive ‘great’ reviews on TrustPilot, with an average review of 7.7/10.
76% of customers rated them as 5/5, which is certainly above average. The point which was most commented on was their customer service and response times, something which is certainly lacking in other hosting providers.
What they offer
The main services which Namesco have to offer are –
- A free domain name (almost all variants, .com, org, .uk as well as some more obscure ones)
- Cloud hosting
- SSL Certificates (some free options too)
- CPanel website hosting
- Reseller Hosting
- Managed, dedicated servers for complicated websites
- Personalised Email Hosting and email servers for larger companies
- Specially optimised UK WordPress hosting
Pricing
Their pricing is competitive but not cheap. With hosting, it’s very much a case of ‘you get what you pay for’ and dedicated UK telephone support, as well as speed and reliability is something worth paying for. With this said, their prices are relatively good and things like domain name registration are cheaper than we could find elsewhere. In addition, if you’re after basic, no frills hosting – they’ve got some good options available at introductory rates which should be suitable for any site.
Our Review
Namesco are one of our top rated UK hosts and they continue to excel in our tests. They offer a wide range of products and services and their support is second to none. Some of our customers have suggested they prefer to work with smaller hosting companies as they tend to be better on support but we’ve not found this to be an issue with Namesco. As with many hosts, their renewal prices are higher than the introductory prices, but this is standard industry practice.
Overall, Names.co.uk is currently ranked as our top hosting provider and we’ve no hesitation in recommending them to our readers.
